A Mawson Garden

A trip to Sedbergh to take friend A out to see places in Sedbergh she will not find on her own ( because she can't see very well). But having shown her the way to The Queens Gardens , she reckons she'll be able to find her way back there and will be able to keep an eye on the progress of the volunteer gardeners. 

We timed our visit well and were given the long history by a guy from the parish council and one of the volunteer gardeners. And we learned about landscape architect Thomas Mawson from Windermere who, I must admit I had never head of,  but he designed gardens all over the world. If you are interested you can read a potted history here although despite this being a list of his gardens in Cumbria it misses out these ones in Sedbergh (probably because people usually forget Sedbergh is in Cumbria and think its in Yorkshire).  
Enough said, it was a very hot day. This is A and the ornamental cross,  then we made our way to the sandwich shop to buy lunch and sat in the sun to eat it. It was so hot we had to take out coats off.  Spring has arrived.
