Transition

This photo captures the change that’s happening in our outside world. March is a winter month in Maine but it also marks the Vernal Equinox, the beginning of a new season - spring! Birds of all kinds begin their flights northward; the resident ones are building nests; male chipmunks, raccoons and groundhogs awaken from their dens; buds are becoming visible on trees. I’m enjoying a wonderful book “Naturally Curious” by Mary Holland, a Vermont Naturalist and Photographer. The book is sectioned by season describing the changes that occur in nature in Northern New England. It’s a fascinating read • This bluejay is sitting in the rain surrounded by the buds of a lilac tree yet snow remains a backdrop. He illustrates that transition from winter to spring here in Maine • Hope you’ve got sunshine in your heart and a spring in your step today :)
