The Pier

Jutting out into
the river, a perspective
anew can be gained

~ carliewired

The pier at Riverside Park holds an attraction for many. From its location one can see the confluence of the North Thompson River and the South Thompson River. It sits where paddlewheelers once docked.

The South Thompson River comes in from the east side where the railway bridge shows.

The two rivers combine and flow west under the Overlander Bridge (blue) to become the Thompson River.

The rivers are named for the explorer, David Thompson, who never set eyes on them. He was probably the world's greatest cartographer. I will leave it to the Canadian Encyclopedia to hit the highlights of his life.    https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/david-thompson
