Windflower (Anemone blanda)

Our bike ride this afternoon was partly in sunshine, which had deceived me into thinking the weather was warm. I made the error of going without gloves and the cold wind froze my fingers to the handlebars.

It was a pretty ride none the less as we passed a woodland carpet of lush green strappy leaves, soon to be a sea of bluebells; white wind flowers aka wood anemones (anemone nemorosa) and yellow winter aconites.

I was far too cold to stop and take pictures so once home, showered and warmed up, I popped into the garden where the last rays of sunshine lit up another windflower, anemone blanda. Blanda means mild or charming, which it is.
