Many people will instantly recognise this - Langley Smelt Mill Chimney. It was the vent at the end of a long flue that carried lead-laden fumes from the smelt mill at Langley over a mile away. And those people will also realise that we were well out of our local area. We had even crossed the county border, the first time we had done that in a long, long time.

We had a few things to do locally and a bit further afield and then 'found ourselves' heading over the hills to Alston and then to Hexham. We had a quick shop in Waitrose - what a treat - and then headed home. A bit of a transgression, but there you go.

And tomorrow we won't be able to go out as the road will be closed and we will be 'locked in' . . . tomorrow's the day we get connected to fibre . . . fantastic!!
