Sugar Shack

Today I went in search of a sugar bush. Tis the season to make maple syrup. In normal times, there are Maple Syrup Festivals. You can go to the sugar bush, watch and learn about the process, and then end your visit by enjoying some pancakes and maple syrup. Of course in a pandemic, those festivals will probably be canceled, as is the case at today's venue. I could walk around the bush, but not go into any of the buildings and there certainly were no culinary delights at the end of my visit! But I did get a couple of photos to share - one of steam rising from the sugar shack's evaporator where the sap is reduced to syrup, and one of the pipeline or tubing system for collecting the sap and carrying it directly to a holding tank - a more efficient, but less photogenic, method than the classic bucket and spout system! Whatever the system, long live that wonderfully delicious amber syrup!
