Golden Mouse

My plans changed on Sunday afternoon, when I heard some very sad news. As a diversion I began knitting a mouse for the Midlothian 'Mice for P1's' scheme. This is to allow every child starting Primary School in the Autumn to be given a mouse (knitted or crocheted) to help them settle in.
It seems an strange thing to do but, as I have knitted such things (and they are still intact, I saw them last week) thought I might make a contribution.

Here's the first. Not understanding the given pattern I used my old one, from the book Knit your Own Pet, but with certain adaptations, to whit, the ears made as part of the main body instead of being made separately and sewn on afterwards. This took several attempts to refine, hence finishing only today,  it is very fiddly and requires a yarn of some strength so a slightly altered method has been used for #2.

Meanwhile I must pull myself together and get on with the routine tasks.
