Sgwarnog: In the Field

Toad

As anticipated the first properly warm day of spring has given the butterfly season proper impetus.

All four of the species (Comma, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Brimstone) that overwinter as adults could be seen out and about (extras), variously around Moorside, Spring Wood & Tong Park. The Brimstone was my first year the year.

I didn't manage a photo of the Brimstone, but I did catch a fine Common Toad as it was walking to have a swim in the Dam.

Lots of Chiff-chaff calling in the woods. And my neighbour, Daphne, was finding all this warm weather a bit too much (extra).
