The scrap metal career, cont. (part 3)

It doesn't look like it but this is 14kg of scrap metal, mostly dug up in my garden since August. Time for another backpack load to the Metal Salvage place.

Today I earned an impressive £1.54 to add to August's 25p. When I told them I was saving up for a pint they took pity on me and recorded my 'household cable', which hadn't even made the scales blink, as 1kg. At £1,250 per tonne, that represented about 7 fluid ounces of bitter!

The most interesting thing about my trip was learning that the rate for mixed iron has more than doubled from £50 a tonne last August to £110 a tonne now. Kick yourselves for not investing in rust this winter.
