Windmill 'Nooit Volmaakt', Gorinchem -- 100!

'Nooit Volmaakt' means 'never perfect'.  I wonder what lies behind this choice of name.  'We're never satisfied' or 'It's never enough' or 'There's always room for improvement' or there was an argument about the location?  Maybe someone's wife was a nag?  According to researchers, the name came from another mill, actually an oil mill, that was eventually dismantled.

'Gorinchem' is pronounced 'GHORkum'.  If you ever meet someone named 'van Gorkum', it's a reference to this town.  It lies in the province of Zuid-Holland ('South Holland'), my second one in that province after the mill in Hillegersberg last year.  (If you are confused, North Holland and South Holland are provinces only, and they are the most well-known.  The country is officially The Netherlands, and there are twelve provinces.)

With this windmill, I've reached the magical number of 100 -- a hundred windmills in 10 months, so an average of 10 a month, or one windmill every three to four days.  Had there been no restrictions, I would have gone out for dessert somewhere with AW.  As it is, I might just buy a special treat at the supermarket.  Or not.  THANK YOU very much for all your tokens of interest in this project, for all your encouragement in these trying times, and for your humour and kindness.

The project started on 03 June 2020 and will continue, of course.  More exciting times ahead.

Still adjusting to DST and opting to stay mentally relaxed, so did largely nothing the rest of the day except for some chores.  In the evening, AW had the usual Thursday bridge online.  A rerun of Charmed is now showing on Dutch TV and we've been following that, although that is more AW's thing.  I believe A Star Is Born will show sometime this month and that is something I'd like to see, having already watched the original version around 50 years ago.
