Racing Away

If anyone had been watching me this morning they would have wondered what on earth I was doing in a tent/bird hide in the garden in the hail. I was asking myself just that question.

Certainly not as pleasant as yesterday and maybe the birds and animals thought so too as they sensibly had decided to hunker down. Decidedly colder but no frost probably because of the thick cloud cover.

Magpies though are opportunistic birds and with the table d'hôte on a platter in front of them who were they to turn it down. We have here the pick, toss and catch method in demonstration beautifully done for the camera - no mistakes from Maurice Magpie with the smaller birds left gasping in the shrubbery behind - not just in awe but dismay. None had foreseen the total decimation of their breakfast extravaganza racing away at such a pace!
