Jigsaw Weather

After some glorious days last week, there's been terrible weather the last few days and today we've had snow and hail on and off most of the day (but not settling). So today I cleaned out 3 kitchen cupboards and did more jigsaws.

Day 386 / Day 91 of Lockdown 3 / Day 30 of Step 1 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
UK deaths up 20 to 126,882 (revised basis), with 2,379 new cases, 3,536 patients in hospital, 517 on ventilation and 248 new admissions. 31.6m have now received their first dose of the vaccine and 5.5m have had their second dose. The Head of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) says it's 'increasingly difficult' to say there's 'no cause and effect relationship'' between the shot and 'rare cases of unusual blood clots'. The MHRA is reportedly considering not using the jab in younger people (I must admit to being suspicious that a review into incidents could be the reason for stopping the rollout to under 50s recently - particularly as we get the mRNA Moderna jab deliveries soon). Obviously that doesn't mean it's not still suitable for older people and the benefit of taking it still outweighs the risks.  Clearly work is still on-going on the assessment of incidents - however we do have a choice of vaccines and some will be more suitable for some people than others. The Valneva jab being developed in Scotland with trials funded by the UK Govt is producing a strong immune response. SAGE says modelling suggests a potential 3rd wave peaking end July / early Aug - which seems at odds with the seasonal benefit we saw last year. Interesting to read that the IMF says that the global recession would have been 3x deeper if govts hadn't stepped in to rescue their economies. It thinks UK growth will be over 5% both this year and next, but we'll be 2nd last in the G7 to regain pre-pandemic levels of GDP.
