A time for everything

Colorful activity for a grey winters day

Wednesday
This evening, while watching TV I was trimming the edges of the prayer shawl cards we put on the prayer shawls we knit in our knitting ministry at church, and punching holes in the cards of blessing. The prayer on the card of blessing (the light-colored ones at the back) reads:

May God's grace be upon this shawl...
warming, comforting, enfolding and embracing.
May this mantle be a safe haven... a sacred place of security and well-being...
sustaining and embracing in good times as well as difficult ones.
May the one who receives this shawl be cradled in hope, kept in joy, graced with peace,
and wrapped in love.
Blessed Be!

J., our leader, used to do all the jobs herself, but a few years ago she divided the tasks up, and I volunteered to take care of the cards - we also have prayers for bereavement and for healing which can also be attached. It made us all realize how much time and effort J. must have been putting into it doing it all herself. We would just turn up and enjoy knitting and chatting, little thinking of all the work that was required in the background!
