Stuff and Nonsense

Grey Wagtail #41

Another early appointment for Dad at the hospital, but this time it was good news. The infection has gone, the wounds are drying up nicely and Dad is not in as much pain as he was so doesn't have to go back until next week which is good.
I was home just before 10am and we headed out to Yarrow, once again in search of the elusive Mandarin ducks. We had a fleeting glimpse of one in the air, but a fuzzy shot of a duck's bottom really isn't going to cut it on blip is it?!
There were plenty of other birds to see, and as you can see it was a very bright sunny day - in fact a little too bright for me. This was one of three grey wagtails we saw, plus the dippers were quite active near the weir. It was almost impossible to get any sort of a photo due to the light so we just stood and watched them dipping and diving for nearly 20 minutes - it was fabulous.
Yarrow is becoming my new favourite place(in the absence of Lunt, which is still closed due to the flood damage to the river Alt), but we need to revisit so many other places, it's hard to choose where to go.
