Great Spotted Woodpecker

I saw this bird yesterday as I was taking my picture of the orchid, but thought I would leave him for another day; today is that day.

Yesterday work on the rockery at the weekend fully caught up with me and both my knees and my back are incredibly painful, so I dosed myself up with painkillers and slept for almost the entire day and last night. In consequence not much of my study got done and I am now even more frantically trying to catch up with it, so not many blip comments until after the 14th March.
