Postie

Luna simply in heaven when the big yellow van silently drives up to the house. Our postman of many years is now in a scheme available for older employees to start early retirement gradually. I can never remember the details of how it works, but basically they slowly reduce their work hours/days.

But Luna is lucky, our Postman Pat has done an excellent job training his successor who has now been coming to us for months more often. Despite all the stress, she always has time for a stroke. I have to work on a name for her. She's lovely, always a big smile and happy.

Today the temperature was almost bearable but instead had to do some repair work in the house, starting with the parcel that was delivered, a new electric heating rod for our central heating water boiler that works entirely off 'free' PV electricity and thus allows us to shut down the central heating for at least 6 months. However this morning the central heating didn't start showing a 'start' problem. I thought I knew what it was -0too much ash had accumulated in the burner. So opened it all up and got busy with the vacuum cleaner.

Wasn't too bothered about it not starting as had to empty the  300 litre warm water boiler to fit the new heater and while at it took the opportunity to clean out the boiler itself, clearing away the mass of limescale on the bottom.

All messy time-consuming jobs, but it all went slightly wrong and the floor got flooded on at least two occasions requiring lots of mops and buckets. Seemed to be never ending. Not difficult, just annoying!

Eventually by dog evening walk time, all was finished and working again and hoping for some sun tomorrow to check the electric heater. As it would be today, as I loaded Luna in the car it started to rain for the first time today!
