Heath

Before I get lost in the fresh greens of the new spring, a blast of colour from last year's Cross-leaved Heath.

I was out checking the Bilberry patches along Moorside for Green Hairstreak butterflies. Their 2021 emergence has been reported in neighbouring areas, but no joy for me yet.

It was a little overcast by the time I got out in mid-afternoon, just a few Peacock and Small Tortoisehell butterflies around today.
