Life through the lens...

Oh Happy Day

One of my best birthdays.
Started with a cup of tea in bed ( actually an everyday treat)
Opening cards and presents.
Then off to Burnby Hall, near Pocklington. My choice.
We were certainly lucky with the weather.
The sun shone, and the cold wind stayed away.
A lovely walk round the gardens and lakes.
The tulips were just beginning to flower. Some of the early varieties looking stunning.
Some children were feeding the fish. A real feeding frenzy.
In the woodland we spotted a tree creeper.
Music was provided by a small ukulele ensemble.
Delicious lunch of “ Bits and Bobs” (Coronation chicken, mixed meets, cheeses, salad, biscuits and baguette). sat outside in the shade of a parasol. All very well organised.
A delightful morning.

Then a walk into the town.
Hadn’t realised just how much we have missed just walking round, looking in shop windows. Enjoying our freedom.
Had a look in a shoe/ bag shop, and bought a handbag. A shoulder bag, with lots of pockets I can use when out walking.

Then parked at the head of the canal, and had a walk along the tow path for about a couple of miles.
Found the swan very close to the path sitting peacefully on the nest.
The male was further down the canal feeding.
Lots of orange tip butterflies. Male and females chasing one another.
I did manage one shot, but was difficult as they just wouldn’t stop still.

I have included a shot of Mr C in the collage ( see extra) as want to record his long hair!
He can’t wait until tomorrow when he has it cut.

We arrived home, and there was a bottle of wine from my sister hidden by the front door.
A box of flowers from my BIL and wife.
Then Our Daughter-in-law called with flowers from our granddaughter ( Jennie in Sheffield)
Already received a beautiful glass bird from her and our son
Then our other granddaughter Hannah called with a card and a bottle of Cherry Blossom Gin Liqueur.
All so lots of phone calls, including one from grandson George, who says something coming in the post tomorrow.

I have really been spoilt.
So grateful to everyone for making my day so special. Especially Mr C who bought me the most beautiful card. More like a book, with lots of pages and wonderful words. x.
( I now have a lot lo live up to! )
