Twin Coast Cycle Trail

Today we completed the Trail, cycling 39.9 kms from Kaikohe to Horeke.  It was another glorious day and the scenery was lovely.  Our legs were talking to us again, so we made good progress, although the last third of the Trail was somewhat up and down.  We quite often walked the ups as the track was quite gravelly and the wheels couldn’t get traction, and sometimes we just couldn’t be bothered putting in the effort!!  The locals seem to have a very loose definition of “it’s downhill all the way from here”!  I do remember reading that part of the last stretch was Grade 2 - 3, and it certainly was.
