SIZERGH CASTLE GARDENS

As hubby wanted to finish off decorating the Hall this morning I booked G and I a couple of slots to go round Sizergh Castle Gardens arriving at 10.30 am.

It's the first place I've been to for some time but it was very well organised.  Such a beautiful morning too.  For me this was the perfect weather - bright and sunny with just a slight nip in the air.

There were just a few cars parked when we arrived.  Quite a lot were going for walks around the estate rather than the garden though.  I was surprised to see so many tourists about but they were probably all caravanners or something similar.  Good o see though as it's sign of things opening up.

Most people were very good about social distancing but one or two just seemed to forget, probably just got carried away with the nice weather,  but no matter we managed to get around that.

The gardens are looking very lovely, they were lobbing branches off in the south gardens and we couldn't go for a walk around the whole of the pond but we managed to sit on the bench looking up at the castle - so lovely.  There are lots of signs that they are getting ready to fully open as there were people there inspecting the grounds.

Also chatted to one of the gardeners whose lovely little dog Noodles was stretched out enjoying the sunshine "supervising" her.  He posed very willingly whilst G tried to take a photograph of him.  I don't know what breed of dog he was but he did look like a few strings of noodles so very aptly named and he just wanted to be paid attention so I willingly obliged with that.

After a visit to the coned hedges (see picture) G started to get dizzy so we slowly headed back to the entrance and found a seat outside under the dappled shade of a tree and we had coffee and scones.  Such a lovely but also weird feeling as we haven't done that for so long.  But all very well done and how it's going to have to be for the foreseeable future I think.

Then just headed home to admire Hubby's paintwork.  He's done a grand job and it's looking so much brighter and better now.  Still a few more things to do but at least we're getting there, reading for when the new doors and windows are replaced later in the summer.

That's all for today.  Hope you have all had a lovely day. Do take care and continue staying safe and I'll see you all again tomorrow.  Thank you for dropping by and for the lovely comments etc - all so lovely and much appreciated.
