Floating market.

This morning we visited a floating market. The place was buzzing with sellers and their wares. Fresh fruits and vegetables, hot foods being cooked and served, drinks and lots of tourist tat.

It had a great atmosphere and there seemed to be as many locals buying, particularly food, as well as tourists. The food smelled great and lots of people were eating both in and out of the boats but we weren't brave enough, though we like Thai food.

I love the different hats here. ( You could buy plenty of these too.)The old woman is cooking squid I think and putting it in banana leaf dishes. The lady is making Spring Rolls. The guy has fresh coconuts to drink from, which I did have later on.
After the market we had a long boat tour of the stilt houses along the canals, it reminded us of the backwaters in Kerala where, although not stilt houses, all life is conducted on the waters edge. One of the advantaged of the stilt houses is that they can sit underneath in the shade.

After lunch we went to a Tiger Temple. A conservation centre run by Buddhist monks. I'm still undecided about this place but the tigers were magnificent. They had all been hand reared by the monks and there were some young cubs and other rescue animals wandering around.

By this time everything had swollen up with the heat so when we got back I just wanted a bath and a sleep, couldn't even raise the energy to look through my Photos.

( I had been left a little gift on my pillow for World Women's day. It says Happy International Women's day - to a woman who makes a remarkable day. How lovely is that!)
