A Day In The Life

By Irish59

Right Now

Two red-breasted nuthatches landed together in the lilac trees; one pecked at suet in a feeder while the other waited patiently nearby on a branch. It looked like fledgling behavior to me but I think it’s too early for that since they typically lay eggs mid-April, therefore I’m going with the alternative which is they’re mating. The male is doting over the female by feeding her. Her mouth is open, letting him know she’s hungry and she wants to eat NOW! Thanks to Majoayee for hosting today’s Mono Monday :) • The sun is deceiving today. It looks warm but it’s anything but! The wind is blowing and it’s been quite chilly all day. A slight frost is possible tonight, and I’m hoping it’s the last threat of the season. We picked up branches and limbs from our backyard early this morning and after grocery shopping cleaned out the Monarch Butterfly Bed • A productive start to a new week :)
