Arborist

I stand corrected, apparently they are arborists nowadays.  Whatever they are called, they are very fit and nimble.  This one was about 10 meters up a beech tree, holding on with one hand while sawing with the other hand, all secured with a good rope and lots of protective equipment.

We now have a huge pile of chippings which will be great for the garden when it rots down a bit, piles of logs everywhere, and reinforced brown hedges.

The two who have been here this week will be back tomorrow with reinforcements as they need a bigger team to tackle a huge diseased Ash tree.  Generally we are leaving our Ash alone, even where they have some signs of die-back, as they often grow through it.  But this tree is too far gone and if it came down it could be over the lane.
