A lazy lunchtime in the garden ... I love the bokeh in this one.

Earlier I used the jar of starter in the fridge to make granola (recipe from my new book). It seems an unlikely idea, but it turned out rather well. You mix it with a little sugar, oil, maple syrup, porridge oats, flour and water, then add nuts and seeds of your choice and bake till crisp before breaking up with a rolling pin. Then add other stuff to taste (dried fruit, more nuts).

Edit: just found the identical recipe on Epicurious if you want to try it.

Our favourite by-product is still the sourdough crackers though; we've just finished the last lot with cheese, membrillo, and a glass of rosé (first of the year, it must be spring).
