Nicky and her Nikon

Peony

It has been a mixed day, mainly sunny with a bit of rain which of course had to happen as I walked Xena this morning. In spring I seldom take indoor photos of flowers as with all the spring flowers outside there is no need to do so - but these peonies are just stunning, a delicious deep ruby red that I wanted to photograph in a low key kind of way - added two texture overlays and this is the result.

I have been following the news about the baby minke whale that has been found up the Thames, it was seen on Sunday as far up the river as Richmond where rescuers managed to free it off the lock rollers. It was towed downstream but unfortunately it came loose from its moorings and is now lost somewhere in the Thames, where it is at risk as it is thought to be injured.

Someone at Gavin's work has tested positive for Covid. She had Covid quite badly in December, and in March she was found to have full immunity when she did an antibody test. Any employees who are going in to the office have to have a Lateral Flow Test, and she has tested negative every time she went in last week using the LFT. However on a random research test taken on the weekend where she had a PCR test she was found to be positive - with no symptoms at all. So no-one is going in to the office while it is deep cleaned and all staff who she was in contact with have to quarantine. Interesting that she contracted the virus again, but this time she is not even ill which is what the scientists have been telling us about how the vaccine works.

Tonight is an interesting evening at camera club (on zoom) where various members are presenting a body of work. Next week, when we are away in Norfolk, it is the judging of our exhibition entries which I really do not want to miss but we are going out for supper so I may have to be rude and sit at the table with my iPad and earphones in!
