How the Mighty Have Fallen

For the last few years, this beech tree has been leaning more and more precariously over this popular path.  It was with trepidation that I passed beneath it every time I visited the former 'Mill Dam' at the back of the Beveridge Park (Kirkcaldy).

Finally, gravity has won the battle but the tree's branches have prevented a total blockage of the route, instead forming a natural arch over it.

I don't know if Fife Council will let it stay like this or whether a chainsaw gang will arrive to clear it.  Time will tell.  In the meantime we will continue to go 'Underneath the Arch(es)' .
