New purchase!

The highlight of our day was buying ourselves two kayaks! Roger had started researching them online last year, but there weren’t any available - everywhere was sold out. The range of money you can spend on kayaks varies tremendously, but Roger thought these were a decent compromise, and available from Dicks, a chain sporting goods store. We had originally thought of getting a double kayak, but realized that was going to be really long on the car, and heavy for us to lift, so we adjusted our thinking to single kayaks. We both went to the closest store this morning, so that we could both sit in them and make sure they felt comfortable, which they did. They had the green one available which I liked, but the only other colour they had was a weird orange design, which neither of us particularly fancied, so we just bought the green one. It just fitted diagonally in our SUV. Once home, Roger tracked some more available at the Florence store, across the river in Kentucky, so after a bit of lunch, he set off, while I stayed at home to get some housework done. They don’t come with paddles, so we still need to get those, life jackets and we’re still waiting for the roof bars for our new car, to be able to carry them on the roof. In the meantime, I guess we’ll have to take one inside the car, and take turns! Stay tuned for the latest developments!
