Gardening - Outdoors and Indoors

Another brilliantly warm day. For the first time working outside in shorts and little else.  Got some potatoes planted and planted some seeds in pots. Then I dug over quite a large section of garden that's been covered in a tarpauline for several years, to kill off the couch grass, comfrey and other assortd weeds. It seems to have worked, except for the first meter in from the edge where the enthusiastic weeds send in their roots, hoping to find daylight somewhere.
We also set up the mini-greenhouse which was not quite as mini as we'd thought. We saw this in a sale last autumn, for very few pennies, in a well-known international grocery chain (that started life in Germany... ) There are already about 10 pots sheltering in there from the relatively chilly nights.
The mushroom growing kit I got for my birthday suddenly decided to spring to life after some weeks of sleeping. The instructions were to keep the soil moist but nothing really happened until I was  watering it one day and got overenthusiastic. Their definition of moist, and mine, obviously differed! Picking a mushroom, and frying it directly, gave a really different taste and texture experience, if I compare to buying them in a shop. Freshness is obviously important!
All-in-all an excellent day even though we didn't leave the garden!  Tomorrow we are booked in for a walk and a snack in Sundsvall with friends. We are picking up some organic produce sent from Spain, and perhaps buying some garden furniture. It sounds very restful, compared to today!
