The gang

A typical scene in my garden - the woodpecker showering seeds over a gang of hungry pheasants.  The hen pheasants are chasing after the grains while the cock pheasant is standing on one leg looking as if he is on guard.  He almost looks as if he is sitting on the racing pigeon darting behind him.  We have named the pigeon Pat.  He arrived about 3 weeks ago.  We often get a racing pigeon for a day.  It has a rest, finds something to eat and then heads off.  But Pat seems to have decided he likes it here. The wood pigeons take no notice of him, so he has become an honorary pheasant. We called him Pat so that we don't have to change his name if we discover he's a girl.
