If you can't beat them...

Ransom Flower ( Allium ursinum )

Wild Garlic arrived in our garden probably from upstream brought in by the floods.  Since then it has spread through Clickychick's woodland garden  giving a real woodland look.  It is always a surprise as to how quickly the flowers appear a few days ago there wasn't a bud in sight.  Now they are all over the place.

As well as being called Ransoms it is also known as wild garlic and bear's leek or bear's garlic.   It would appear brown bear's find the plant very tasty.  The leaves, bulbs and flowers are edible.   In recent years chefs seem to have taken an interest in using the leaves while in season.
