Point of engagement

The past 24 hours have been tough.
Sigyn has been unusually quiet, while my beautiful wife and I have just been raw. I didn't sleep well, and woke stupidly early, eventually giving up on trying to get back to sleep and taking Sigyn out for the morning wander. Her normal excitement at the prospect of a walk had deserted her, and she quietly followed me out to the truck. She stayed close beside me for the whole of the walk which I viewed through a veil of tears.
A little later HV and I headed to the horses to do the chores and to meet the vet who was coming to vaccinate all of the horses. The horses treated us to a bit of a show as they galloped around the field together.
Home for lunch, then time to get out for a walk with Sigyn. It seemed right that we should go somewhere a bit different and we made our way to Yesnaby, choosing to head north along the cliffs when we arrived. We didn't have a plan in mind for how far we would walk and ended up walking out to the cairn where we got engaged. The view from there is spectacular.
It is the furthest we have walked together for a long time and it gave us plenty time to talk about Talisker and remember some of the reasons we loved him so much. Sigyn enjoyed the walk too despite the absence of her friend.
Home to drop Sigyn off, then a trip to the horses and the chance to get out a ride, giving us both the headspace and therapy we needed. Spotting some Talisker paw prints in the mud at the end of the ride was an unexpected treat.
Back at home later, we found a card left by Mum and Dad. Inside was a poem written by Dad in remembrance of Talisker. It is beautiful (extra).

Thank you to all for the kind words on yesterday's blip. It seems that Mr T left his mark on hearts he never met in countries he never visited.
