Bateman’s - Rudyard Kipling’s home, Burwash

A grand day out to celebrate Susan’s significant birthday plus 1! See this time last year.

We travelled down to Rudyard Kipling’s home at Bateman’s near Burwash in East Sussex. Enjoyed a very pleasant lunch, a look around the house and garden and a splendid walk around the Kipling estate lands and Burwash village. No cakes were eaten while at Mr Kipling’s place. We did have scones and cream though.

All around thunder could be heard, with spectacular skies and a little rain. We managed to avoid the worst of the storms .

Back home we’re just making our way through nibbles and Prosecco prior asparagus then a steak. Feels like a Saturday night, as we’ve both got dressed up for the occasion.

My main blip is across the garden to the house and one extra shows the magnificent clouds and the other a curious juxtaposition of wild garlic and early purple orchid which we were surprised to see in an ancient woodland. Ah! And a pair of snails being supervised by a wood louse.
