Hazardous Substance Mobile

Today our thoughts are with the family & friends of all those who lost loved ones two years ago in Japan. One hopes that the government is at least doing it's best to clear up the mess & try to make the land as safe as possible for current & future generations.
Here in Germany we "benefited" from the events, in that we are getting out of nuclear energy. Hundreds of issues involved in it & the use of renewables but it has to be the right way. As a consumer I am prepared to pay more to finance this change but get very annoyed when one hears of large companies taking advantage of the situation to make exorbitant profits. On 1st April, we have a new electricity supplier who only "sources" from renewable energy.
The Blip is of the "Schadstoffmobil" which tours the parishes twice a year and takes free of charge any hazardous materials (paints, solvents, mercury, medicines, cleaning materials, herbicides etc etc). It was at the Ottobeuren car park for an hour, so took the chance to load some paints that I forgot to move from the garden shed to the cellar before the frost arrived. Did the dog walk in Ottobeuen as well as also going to the normal recycling center to get rid of plastics, batteries, paper etc. Interestingly county council has yet again reduced the rubbish collection charges this year & last week was encouraging people to swap their garbage bins for a smaller model. We produce at the most 20 liters of garbage every 2 weeks & have a 80 liter bin which was the smallest but we could reduce this now to 60 liters.
