Nicky and her Nikon

A wet and wild day

The rains and high winds started last night and this morning it was no better. I think this storm has affected most parts of the country and it seems surprising to have such weather at the end of May. We were up early, got packed up and then took Xena for a last walk. The plan was to go to the beach for one last walk but the wind was blowing an absolute hoolie and the rain lashing in our faces was not pleasant - even Xena was walking with her eyes closed - so we gave up and went back to the car.

I wanted one last quick view of the boats in the harbour at Brancaster Staithe. Like all of England it is very tidal there so this was taken at low tide. When the tide comes in the sailors take a dinghy out to their yachts to go sailing. Apparently you always know when it is high tide as there is a rush of people walking down to the harbour pulling their little boats behind them! This was taken in the rain and it was one of a few images I took today.

We went to Thornham Deli for a coffee and piece of cake - I had a delicious GF almond and orange slice, it was so fresh and light. We then set off for home and the satnav indicated that we would be home by 3pm. Luke and Meriel had got home in just over three hours the night before - but we ended up having a nightmare of a trip with such heavy traffic the entire route, so we only got home after 5pm.

The usual post holiday chores - unpack, laundry on, and now I am busy making supper.
