At work with Josh, Ruth, Eben and Luca

Josh and Ruth have really settled into their job-share at High Riggs Biodynamic Garden, on the northern edge of Sheffield.  Their routine includes taking turns on the weekend rota. At this time of year, this means opening the doors to the polytunnels, checking the hens and the new chicks and doing some cleaning in the shared training areas, in preparation for Monday morning.
So I met them up there this morning, to help with keeping Eben and Luca company while their parents got on with the tasks that needed doing. There was a chill wind blowing - and the site is on a fairly exposed hillside - but at least it wasn't raining.

Both kids love being outdoors, and love joining in with whatever is going on.  Here, Luca is 'helping' his dad with watering the vegetable seedlings.  In the extra, you can see the moment just before Eben succumbed to temptation and let the spray from the garden hose hit both Luca and me :-) There were loud squawks from both of us...

They have a surplus of tomato seedlings up there, so I came away with 4 stout young plants to pot up for our garden.
