A Day In The Life

Feed Me

There was such a racket going on in the lilac trees this afternoon that MrsP left doing dishes to check it out. A starling fledgling was perched further in, quivering, puffed and crying out to be fed. There was another starling in the tree a few feet away, watching. This parent wasn’t persuaded in any way by the little one’s antics or desperate cries for attention. When the parent flew off, needy baby followed • Other than watering this morning, nothing else has been done in the garden today. Instead, we went shopping for more bags of dirt and felt bags, both needed to finish the potatoes and beets; that is on our agenda for tomorrow, and then we will turn our attention back to flowers. We have quite a few perennials and annuals still left to put in the ground. Hopefully we’ll have it all done by Memorial Day, Monday, May 31 • Then, it’s officially summer and time to crack open a cold beer and admire our hard work!
