Red rocks

Fifty km south of Bourke is the Gundabooka Range. Creeks flow briefly after occasional rain, and have carved picturesque gorges through the sandstone. This has been home to the Ngemba people for eons, was a sheep station for a century or so, and is now a national park. The traditional owners generously allow visitors to access the amazing Mulgowen rock art site - see extras.
