Unrequited?

Among gulls' footprints
at low tide lies one tossed rose.
Who so loved that bird?

That was from earlier in Dartmouth, for Flower Friday, with thanks to BikerBear, the challenge host.

Then, down the road and across the fields, this afternoon's walk was wonderful. Set off in three layers, and rapidly shed one. At last it's warm and feels and looks like May time. After picking up a tick on my leg last October, I remembered to tuck my jeans inside my socks before crossing the grass, which is quite long after all the rain.

After rain and gales, the butterflies are back.
Mother Nature's hanging out her smalls:
two whites and one tortoishell is all,
but with sun and warmth, she'll soon be back on track.
