Bee among the bluebells

We've enjoyed a lovely day in the Borders under blue skies in the summer(!) sunshine.

First we met my not-so-little sister for lunch at the Buccleuch Arms in St Boswells, and a handover of various bits and pieces including plants for my garden, vintage clothes, a big box of chocolates - oh, and Mummy hazelh!

After lunch, Mr hazelh and I walked into St Boswells to look for the bookshop that LauraMuir recently recommended. I can see why she likes it so much. There we found a perfect birthday card for Mr hazelh's mother who will be 80 next week, i.e. one that doesn't feature grey-haired old fogeys, or make reference to leaving the fun to the grandchildren.

Then we drove back up the A68 to the starting point of the Earlston Circular Walk. It was a perfect day to take the 4.5 mile trek along the mix of grass paths and farm/woodland tracks beside the Leader Water, and through the woods on higher ground. My favourite part of the walk was in the wood above Carolside House. This is currently carpeted with bluebells (see the extra), and also appreciated by bees (see above).

We returned home to find Edinburgh shrouded under haar. Here's hoping that it lifts tomorrow so we see more of the wonderful sunshine that we enjoyed today.

Exercise today: strength training; walking (18,484 steps).
