Perfect

The apricots I bought at the market in Lagrasse yesterday are perfection. It's rare to find an apricot that is delicious raw, especially this early in the season. I made a clafoutis flognarde with some of them for lunch in the garden, and though I say it myself, that was perfect too, the batter set just right so that it cut neatly but wasn't stodgy. I suspect we'll eat some more of it later. And I still have half a kilo of apricots left; I will probably poach most of them in rosé.

Aperos with S and R on their terrace just now. We could hear a hoopoe, and after a few minutes it flew over us. Even if I'd had a camera I wouldn't have caught it.
