Blue

FRAGMENTARY BLUE

Why make so much of fragmentary blue
In here and there a bird, or butterfly,
Or flower, or wearing-stone, or open eye,
When heaven presents in sheets the solid hue?

Since earth is earth, perhaps, not heaven (as yet)--
Though some savants make earth include the sky;
And blue so far above us comes so high,
It only gives our wish for blue a whet.

Robert Frost

An amazing day - ferociously cold but so bright and clear, and everywhere so blue. By the time I was returning from work a few clouds were gathering in a rather spectacular fashion - I think these are lenticular ones. The blue is also this blue - no faffing at all has been done to this! I'm hoping it might stay clear tonight as it was incredible last night and I was in and out, trying to spot the comet. Zilch, but I did see millions of stars and something red, moving very slowly and silently - too low I thought to be a satellite.

Chips and arthouse beckon - tonight's movie is Chinese, A Simple Life. It sounds quite similar in theme to Amour, a man looks after the family nurse after she has had a stroke, in a reversal of roles. Pathos and humour apparently. I will report back. Hope the cinema is warm.
