LOCKDOWN LIFESAVER

Here's part of Hartlepool North Cemetery, the huge area (about 15 hectares/ 39 acres) across the road from where I live where I seem to spend at least half my outdoor time, and even more during the strictest parts of the lockdowns. This part is the oldest, known as the mound, which is a long ridge created from the spoil excavated when Hartlepool Docks were built in the 1840s. It was opened as a cemetery in 1856, and has lots of lovely mature trees, full of natural holes and also plenty of nest boxes which the birds love.  The mound runs between the road (down to the right of this photo) and the "meadow" part of the cemetery. I feel lucky to have it almost literally on the doorstep.
