Their Ladyships .... Wicklow day 3

.... took strong coffee and almondy things in Kilruddery House home of the Earls of Meath. Jeano and I managed to instantly recognise each other amongst the hordes enjoying the sunny morning in County Wicklow. How lovely to have a catch up with a much loved blipper in such beautiful surroundings - posh house, amazing gardens yet very unpretentious and welcoming. We put the world to right and she's promised to come out wesht so looking forward to that.

A great few days in Wicklow staying with our pals Robert & Finola who have an apartment in Greystones, literally on the sea front. After coffee with Jean we went on to Glendalough, a place of literally jaw dropping beauty and antiquity. On the edge of a lake surrounded by mountains, St Kevin founded a monastery. Later a round tower and oratory and various churches were added and it remains stunning. There were more hordes out enjoying the weather but few people seemed to know about the holy well - how surprising!  It was a beauty complete with rag tree right down by the river. St Kevin loved animals - he once stretched out his hand and a robin alighted and built a nest in his palm and he didn't move until the chicks were fledged! He was not so keen on humans, especially the female variety, and lived in a cave high up on the cliffs. One young woman was so enamoured, Kathleen was her name, that she climbed up the cliff only for Kevin to push her back down into the lake!
 Back blips coming.
