Day 1 in Napier

We walked from our friends’ house down into the town and all around the main shopping area.  It was interesting to see what shops still remained, what shops had disappeared and the new shops that had appeared.  We even managed to buy the 60th birthday present for tomorrow night. As the four of us were sitting having lunch my boss from many years ago walked by, also visiting Napier for a few days.  A happy coincidence.  It was a glorious sunny day but by 3pm the temperature was starting to drop.  The blip shows, on the left, a mural painted on a large concrete retaining wall; top right is the view from our friends’ house; bottom left is a sculpture of a Kowhai flower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kōwhai).  I think my husband would move back in a flash given half a chance.
