A Burst of Culture

Happy Birthday Jan!
On yet another glorious sunny day we headed off to Västanå to see Norrdans in action.  In Härnösand we are very proud of our international modern dance company and have missed seeing them in action since the start of the pandemic. However, they have been in action, dancing in gardens, dancing for audiences of 8 people, dancing in schools. When we talked to a couple of the dancers they felt privileged to have been able to carry on working.
This was the end of a tour with a piece called "Spring Spring", where all the dancers chose their favourite flower and the costume designer got to work.  Jade, dancing here, was Japanese Cherry Blossom. Leo, watching from the shadow after his dance, was gypsophila. (See Leo dancing on my flickr.) The dancers had each worked with the choreographer on their own dance.
As well as spring, there was a picnic theme, and we each got a small picnic as part of our entry ticket. It was so good to see them in action again and we have pencilled in their next premiere on 7 October, hopefully in the theatre!
Did I mention it was Jan's birthday?  After this lovely activity we headed in to town to eat a take-away with Rose and had a long evening where we all enjoyed talk, laughter, finding out why spraying water on crops can save them from frost, Thai food, ice-cream and cake!
