FLOT Wash

This chap, washing his Cockapoo called FLOT, flew the F4, Tornado and F16 before becoming an airline pilot.  His dog is called "FLOT" because the Front Line Own Troops was an important line to know when operating during the Cold War in Germany.  If he had bought three dogs, the other two would have been called FEBA and FSCL (Forward Edge of the Battle Area and Fire Support and Coordination Line), two more important bits of intelligence for the ground attack pilot operating near his own side.  These little bits of humour remind us of our previous lives, somehow . . .  Ed and I were never on a squadron together, but we were flying with the USAF at about the same time, he on a front-line F16 unit, I as an instructor on a F16 training unit.  We had some reminiscing to do as I hadn't seen him for many years.

FLOT was filthy because she had jumped into a ditch during our walk earlier; her underside was black with mud when she came out, but she was happy – see Extra.
