A Wedding

Nothing like a beautiful wedding in a beautiful place with 100 happy guests to put the world to rights. The whole thing was outside. There was a basket of masks next to the guest book, but nobody wore one. There was also a Polaroid camera and a space next to our signatures to put the resulting pictures of ourselves. There was a beautiful bride, a handsome groom, good company and wonderful weather.

It seems a bit weird to put up a picture of us, but after writing about all the interpretations of what 'garden cocktail' dress means, I offer this to show that I think we cleaned up pretty well. I think 'garden cocktail' was code for 'wear whatever you want' for there was a wide range of dress and nobody looked out of place.  John's shoes, purchased in the morning were comfortable, and my yellow mules from Target were comfortable enough. I put pictures of the stunning view over the Sonoma Valley from the dinner table, our table companions (and neighbors), and  the bride and groom beginning the dancing in extras.

Today has been a quiet day of  savoring the fact that for one evening at least, things felt almost completely 'normal' and accomplishing very little else. But it was enough.
