Broad-bodied Chaser

This is a female. The male is an azure blue. I had no expectation of photographing one of these, they are fast moving. But then came across this female sunning herself. Blip sorted.

The morning was an exploration of the site and it’s flora and fauna (especially the latter) with Gemma of naturesgems, who run tours focussing on the varied biodiversity to be found around Morecambe Bay, with a focus on the Arnside and Silverdale AONB. It was a fascinating 3 hours, packed with information. And ending with a talk from a beekeeper, who looks after the honeybee hives here (extras).
