St Bartholomew's Church - Arkendale

This small pre-Victorian church has an impressive tower crowned with pinnacles and castellations and proudly stands at the highest point in the village of Arkendale. It is quite striking from whichever direction you approach the village.
It is good to see that the clock was showing the correct time, although someone needs to go up onto the roof of the tower and sort out the tree growing out of the masonry!
When on our bikes, we normally pass through the village without going up to the church, but it provided a welcome spot for refreshments.
Just for fun I have included another image on today's extras - I was experimenting with one of those convex mirrors that are sometimes positioned at the roadside on blind corners.
