Plan B ...

.... or perhaps even C.

Yesterday when strolling through the town, I thought that a trip to Loch a Choire might be in order for today until I saw the carpark - overflowing.  We decided instead to head over to Glen Brerachan and make our way through Brerachan Woods across the moor to Kinnaird Wood and back along the road. However Brechan woods were closed due to forestry operations and so we decided to start from Kinnaird Woods.  Forestry operations had been taking place there too but the messages were of an advisory nature rather than no public access. All was quiet today anyhow. The path took us across this old bridge, previously visited in March,  This time I went and had a closer look at its construction which is really remarkable (see extra).  It is at a point where five walls meet, each perhaps marking the boundary of different estates.

We then continued on coming out the woods (passing an ruined sheiling complex) and on the the moors were we made our way along the wonderfully named Bealach an t-Sithe (the fairy bealach) and back down towards the A924.  The bealach goes between Carn Geal and Carn Dubh (the white hill and the black hill -  it is good being able to figure out the meanings behind hills and other features more readily),

T spotted a roe deer when we came out the woods and later on I heard a bellowing sound and looked up to see a herd of over 200 red deer heading up Carn Gael (extra courtesy of T).

This afternoon has been slightly more sedentary (and indeed prone as I went for a nap) which enable me to read more of this month's book group book.
